Development of Green Corrosion and scale Inhibitors for Geothermal water/Systems
This study focuses on the design and synthesis of green polymer-based inhibitors that simultaneously control corrosion and scale formation in geothermal water systems. Environmentally friendly polymers will be developed by functionalizing natural polymers with tailored motifs and/or by incorporating selective functional polymers, enabling efficient dual-purpose performance under geothermal conditions.
Engineering pH-Responsive Polyzwitterions for Sustainable Water Treatment and Scale Mitigation
This research aims to develop biocompatible, pH-responsive polyzwitterionic materials as sustainable multifunctional solutions for water treatment. The engineered polymers will enable the selective removal of heavy metals and organic pollutants while simultaneously mitigating mineral-scale formation in agricultural desalination systems, thereby improving water quality and operational efficiency.
Biocompatible hydrogel-based polymeric adsorbents for selective multivalent metals removal from aqueous systems
This study focuses on developing biocompatible hydrogel-based polymeric adsorbents for the selective removal of multivalent metal ions and organic contaminants from aqueous systems. Carbohydrate-based polymers will be sourced or synthesized and crosslinked using tailor-made macro- and micromolecular crosslinkers with tunable chain lengths via click chemistry, thereby enabling efficient and controllable metal adsorption and removal of organic contaminants.
Valorization of Waste Products/ extracts into Value-added Advanced Functional Polymeric Materials
This research focuses on the valorization of waste products and natural extracts into value-added, advanced, functional polymeric materials, with a sustainable research direction and broad technological impact. Such materials can be engineered for corrosion protection, efficient water treatment, and emerging energy applications through tailored chemical functionalities.
