Research and development activities in the Chemistry department encompass a wide selection of research themes, where we aim not to only translate, but to also reshape chemistry from the molecular level into various processes and products for the traditional as well as emerging industries. The major areas of focus are research and development (R & D) for ultra-efficient fuel, clean water and sustainable environment. In these contributions, the chemistry department is one of the leading R & D departments at KFUPM. The active chemistry faculty with the support of well-trained technical staff members and a team work spirit have achieved excellence in research which enabled them to produce 244 US patents during the last five years, in addition to numerous high impact research publications.
The Chemistry department at KFUPM is quipped with the state-of-the-art instrumentation facilities needed to support innovative research programs.
