Dr. Mohammed Morsy
Professor
Morsy research lab activity focuses on the mechanistic chemistry of materials and nanomaterials and free radicals in other systems by using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance spectroscopy mainly.
Research Areas
Physical
Dr. Morsy research challenges concentrate on the mechanistic chemistry of chemical, photo, and electrochemical oxidation processes by using different spectroscopic techniques. He is often used electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) to characterize reactivity of nanomaterials and free radicals in other systems. His research team also conducted several studies on the vibrational spectroscopy (FTIR & Raman), electronic spectroscopy for gaseous and condensed phases (UV-Vis). They utilized computational chemistry, such as spectral simulations, and molecular conformational analysis at different levels of calculations, e.g. MM-, Semi-Empirical, ab initio, and DFT-calculations to support their findings. His team used the analytical and thermochemistry to investigate the Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs), the drug analysis, and the bio-dosimeters research activities. Recently, his lab is focusing more into thermal aging, material stresses analysis of modified denture materials by using different types of nano-particles to enhance the polymer thermal-conductivity, as well as use titania nano-particles in water purification.
