The "Chemathon" talented undergraduate students research competition was conducted on 6th of October 2022, organized by the Chemistry Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM). The Chemathon is a part of the first Gulf Chemistry Association International Conference and Exhibition (GCA-2022), which will be held from 15th of November 2022 to 17th of the same month, at the Gulf Convention Center in the Gulf Hotel, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.

More than 40 Teams submitted their work from various Universities in Saudi Arabia as well as the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The KFUPM President, Dr. Muhammad Al-Saggaf inaugurated the event and distributes the certificates to the Participants as well as the 10 Winners whom will proceeds to the Final Competition which is in Bahrain.
The Chairman of the GCA-2022 Conference, Dr. Yousef Mazrooq, recognized the KFUPM President and Dr. Khalid Alhooshani, Chairman of Chemistry Department at KFUPM. The KFUPM President highly acknowledged the generous support of the American Society (Saudi Chapter) and GCA Conference Chairman.
