International Undergraduate Research Competition
Call for Abstracts – Now Open!
The Chemistry Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), under the College of Chemicals and Materials, is pleased to announce the 4th Edition of CHEMATHON 2026, an international undergraduate research competition that brings together talented students from around the world to showcase their original research in chemistry and related disciplines.
CHEMATHON provides a platform for aspiring researchers to present their scientific work, exchange innovative ideas, engage with fellow students and experts, and gain recognition for their contributions to scientific research.
We invite eligible undergraduate students and recent graduates from universities worldwide to submit their abstracts and participate in this exciting international competition.
Competition Dates: November 29–30, 2026
Venue: King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

- Abstract Submission Opens: September 13, 2026
- Abstract Submission Deadline: October 29, 2026
- Notification of Abstract Acceptance: November 10, 2026
- Final Poster Submission: November 20, 2026

🏆 Awards & Recognition
CHEMATHON 2026 recognizes outstanding undergraduate research and scientific innovation through the following awards:
Top 3 Winners:
- 🥇 1st Prize: SAR 10,000
- 🥈 2nd Prize: SAR 8,000
- 🥉 3rd Prize: SAR 5,000
Best Poster Awards:
- 🌟 SAR 1,000 each for the next seven highest-ranked posters.
These awards celebrate research excellence, scientific creativity, and the contributions of emerging researchers in chemistry and related disciplines.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Student Status: Current undergraduate students or recent graduates (within the last year).
- Research Field: Research must be related to chemistry or allied disciplines, including chemical sciences, biochemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, and related fields.
- Original Research: Submitted abstracts must present original research work.
- Literature Reviews: Submissions consisting solely of literature reviews will not be accepted.
